To start this off, I’m going to come clean: I’m a true Kylie Cosmetics believer. Like a total convert. Her products are by far some of the greatest I’ve ever used and, although I love myself some Kardashian-Jenner drama and outfits, I’m not their number one fan in the sense of I don’t really watch the show and I don’t just blindly follow them into oblivion. But Y’ALL. Kylie Jenner’s make-up is freaking dope and I can’t deny it. Anyone that doesn’t like her products doesn’t like them because they’re from Kylie Jenner. The quality is some of the best I’ve ever used, with incredible pigmentation and insane staying power. I can put a lipstick on at 6:00 p.m. and still have to scrub it off at 2:00 a.m. Now, this is my first Kylie Cosmetics post, but I have almost every single one of her lip kits and I…went a little overboard when she released her Holiday Collection. I dropped a pretty penny in order to get the collection because I couldn’t decide what I liked the most. The collection came with one palette, one gloss, one metal lipstick, one matte lip kit, a collection of six mini matte lipsticks, and a crème eyeshadow. I also ordered an additional lip kit, as well as the other 4-piece collection of matte lipsticks. It also came with a swaggy silver make-up bag with her Kylie lip logo over it that I’ve been using to carry around my make-up collection while traveling (mostly lipkits, because, duh.) I’ve also included the Burgundy Eyeshadow Palette in this post, because the colors are warm and very holiday-like to me, and what I wore this holiday season quite often.
Disclaimer: I have a cheap camera that is super lame and also the theme of this collection was silver, because there is diamond powder in all of the products. While this is super shiny in real life, it’s super hard to photograph without everything looking dirty. So just ignore that.
The Burgundy Palette is so warm and pretty. I chose to buy it because I typically lean towards browns and blacks, and didn’t have a palette that was anything like this. And I just wanted something different for once, because I’m trying not to be so stuck in the mud about products I use. Gotta switch it up. Anyway with this palette, I typically use the brightest colors, with one of the warm ones as a base. With this one, I’ve found that applying the base last helps keep the colors from mixing too much and turning a little brown. As well, I think it looks really good with my blue eyes and blonde hair, which I wasn’t sure was going to work out. Usually with reds I’m a little cautious because sometimes they can make my whole face look…bad. ANOTHER DISCLAIMER: At the time that I took these pictures, I was growing out my eyebrows and yes, they look terrible, but they’re much better now so thanks in advance.
Hello, below is Ashlyn modeling the Holiday Palette because I was too lazy to take off my make-up and redo it. And yes, we did a photo shoot in my bathroom because we were lazy. Anyway. Ashlyn mostly aimed for bright in this look, because duh, it’s the holidays. I have never seen a better or brighter or more solid silver ever. Look at that shine!!! Like I said before, all of her products are so pigmented, you almost have to use barely anything in order to not overuse/waste your products. I haven’t found an opportunity to try out this palette as much as a whole, but I have used it in some plainer looks when I need something to make my eyes a little more interesting. While the Holiday Palette isn’t “normal” colors or something you’d use every day, the colors are so pretty and would be good to add a little pop to any look.
Part of why I love her lip products so much is the wand – it’s the perfect size and very easy to manage. A lot of wands are too big, or too floppy and end up spreading the product all over your face because it’s harder to use properly. Plus, since they’re big and spongey, they soak up a lot of product and sometimes even dry out faster. Another favorite is that Kylie’s products go on with a vanilla flavor and don’t dry with as many cracks. Usually one layer is enough to last me hours, but when I do have to reapply, it doesn’t just get clumpy and gross.
Kylie’s glosses are just as good as the lipsticks. Without being sticky and annoying, they go on smoothly and clearly, with a pigmentation that blows my mind every time. My mom wasn’t the biggest fan of Jolly because it’s a dark, purple gloss. I’m also a big fan of the glitteriness in Cupid and Noel. I’m not a big fan of glitter but a quick swipe on the lips is just enough shine to not make me feel like I’m Tinkerbell.
This is Angel. Angel is my go to and I don’t know what I’m going to do if Kylie never releases it again. It’s the perfect pink, with a little darkness to it to make it more blush than hot. I wore Vixen to Decadence and received so many compliments on it. It’s dark and plummy but has a pink undertone that keeps it from looking black. Unfortunately, this dark formula is consistent with a lot of her other dark formulas – good colors, but the formula is a little chunky and requires a lot of reapplication. However, aside from Kourt K, I wouldn’t rule them out if you have the patience to keep up with it.
And finally – MINI MATTES!!!!!! I love that Kylie makes these tinies of her lip products, especially because this package included some Holiday products and some of her every day products. For example, I loved Moon in pictures, but I wasn’t sure about buying it. This collection included a mini of it and now I know that although I like it, I shouldn’t spend money on it for myself because I have lip kits that would look better. Minis are also great for going out, because they take up so little space and also, you don’t run the risk of losing a regular lipstick if you are like me and spill things out of your purse all the time.
I’m not sure if Kylie will be rereleasing this Holiday Collection, although I’m hoping she comes out with Angel as a full lip kit. Some of the Holiday Collection, such as the Merry and Vixen Lip Kits, Holiday Palette, and the entire Holiday Box, are still available on kyliecosmetics. Com. Because of the popularity of Kylie’s products, many people are selling knock-offs for either the same price or more, all over the Internet. PLEASE only buy from Kylie Jenner’s official site. People are using unsafe and harmful ingredients, like gasoline and glue, to create the knock-offs and Kylie’s products are not only worth the price and the hype, but pretty averagely priced as well as full of good ingredients. Take it from me – I have skin allergies to so many things, I’m limited to very few brands and am lucky that her products have worked out for me because I love them so much.
Feel free to throw any questions about Kylie products my way! xoxo, Katy
