IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: SEPTEMBER, 2017
September was something of a transition month for me. It’s kind of funny that no matter how old you get, January doesn’t feel like a new year. September does. This makes a little more sense now, because I’ve started taking online classes via Texas Tech again. They hounded me for a year to get back into school – something they have in common with my parents. The great thing is, they make it really easy to take online classes and get your degree. The not-so-great part is that I can’t get my advertising degree online so I had to switch my major, which means it’ll take longer to get my degree. AH. But when I get my degree…I get a new car. So now you know why I’m really doing it.
Which also reminds me that I actually did get a new car! The death toll finally rang for my old, tired, sad Dodge Nitro and I’m now driving a newer Ford. All I asked for was a white car that wasn’t small…which is what I got! Bluetooth? Seatwarmers? Lights at my feet that change colors? Is this what driving in the 21st century is? Because I live for it!!!! I’m very blessed and am very lucky that I was able to get a new one, because Lord knows I would’ve been out of luck without help, particularly because I would have had no way to get to work. And I need to work!
The store has really picked up in the last month and the pressure is on. People have come back from their summer vacations completely ready for an entirely new closet and we are working like crazy to accommodate everyone. My job as a personal assistant and manager has basically been learning on the go and hoping for the best. Luckily I don’t have to do it on my own because my boss #rocks and so does our team at the store. I didn’t realize that when people are like, “no one knows what they’re doing” THEY REALLY MEAN IT. I thought that for sure someone out there had to know what they were doing. Nope. I don’t think anyone does…which makes me feel a lot better about not knowing what I’m doing. I’m also bad about taking on too much…I’m basically Danyale’s proxy at the store for the times when she can’t be there, which is a crazy job in and of itself, and I also agreed to write a monthly fashion article for a new magazine coming to Dripping Springs, in order to get the store an entire page. Combined with school, I have no time for a social life or anything else. Which is fine, because I don’t have any friends, but if I did, it might be sad.
Because I’ve been so busy, I haven’t had time to write an Italy post…or any more Chicago posts…or write at all. Or do anything! You know at the end of the day when you’re, like, so burnt out from just being alive that you have to just lay on the couch and drink wine and watch The Office until you fall asleep because you actually can’t use your brain anymore? That’s been me. With absolutely zero motivation. But it is coming! One day…
You can always shop my Instagram looks on the Shop Social bar at the top of my page! I update every day.
My Spotify playlist for the fall is really starting to take on a mind of its own, but I love it. FALL 2017
I’ve also created an entire playlist dedicated to the queens of my life, Cher and Stevie Nicks. It’s still a work in progress but, like, you’re welcome. ?QUEENS ?
My favorite podcasts right now are Austin New Church (where Jen Hatmaker preaches!) and Lovett or Leave It. I pretty much only listen to podcasts…I literally have to make a conscious effort to listen to music.
Here’s my current favorite things in the world. I update this section of my blog almost weekly, under the LTNV Loves section on my right side bar.
Here’s what all I’m loving right now. I’m also dying for a hand painted Leatherology crossbody because they’re to die for. I’ve also been super into finding new jeans…I’m not even sure what the deal is, I’m just like dying to fill up my closet with jeans. I can only wear high-waisted though because I literally hate anything on my hips. Like, I just feel like my pants are falling down. And I’m dying for more boots because I’m a) a shoe addict and b) my favorite shoe style is boots. I wear them year-round, even though it’s like out of style or whatever. Who cares? The Target Project 62 line is basically to die for as well. I moved into my apartment in May…but I’m still basically living out of boxes because I have no knack for interior design and the last thing I ever want to spend money on is furniture because I feel like my style changes so much. That’s why the Target stuff is so great – it’s mostly affordable, it looks really nice, and hopefully it lasts. I’m super into pinks and navy and whites right now, hence the pink furniture. Even though I should know better, considering I have two black dogs who have ruined everything white or light-colored I own.
